Proofs of the Impossible: Three Greek Women Painters, 1821–1960 is the second talk in art historian Gelly Gryntaki’s series on Greek women artists.

It tells the story of three painters who worked at a time when it was very hard for a woman in Greece to be an artist at all: Eleni Altamoura, Sofia Laskaridou and Thalia Flora-Karavia.

Each of them found her own way to train, work and exhibit, and together they show how Greek women opened the door to modern Greek art.
