A Journey Through the Traditional Music of Cyprus is a free evening of Cypriot folk music with the Limassol trio ANTAMA.
The trio are Anna Aristeidou (vocals, percussion), Nicolas Vryoni (vocals, violin) and Grigoris Ioannou (vocals, lute). They perform traditional songs about love, migration, community and memory, together with Christmas carols.
Ceramic artist Maria Michael also makes a traditional Cypriot koukoumara clay jar live on stage during the evening, and the night finishes with the audience joining in.
It is the last event of the year from the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission. Entry is free but booking is essential, and some guests may need to stand.
