Spinning Myths, Painting Shadows: Women and the Origins of Greek Art is the first talk in a new series by London-based art historian and curator Gelly Gryntaki.
The series, The Origin of Painting: Greek Women Artists from Antiquity to the Present, follows the women who shaped Greek art over more than two thousand years, many of whom are still little known.
This opening talk goes back to the beginning, to the myths and stories that link women with the very first images in Greek art.
The second talk in the series, on three Greek women painters of 1821–1960, follows on 17 December.
