Date: Thursday, 1 October 2026
Venue: The Hellenic Centre, Marylebone, London
London-based Greek painter Sofia Mitsola joins Cambridge art historian Professor Alyce Mahon for an evening conversation at the Hellenic Centre.
The event marks the London launch of Mitsola’s first monograph, Sofia Mitsola: Sisterly Affections, published by DCV, which includes an essay by Mahon.
Born in Thessaloniki in 1992 and a graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art, Mitsola paints invented female figures that draw on Greek and Egyptian mythology. Her work deals with looking, desire and power, and has been shown at institutions including the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Fondation Carmignac.
Mahon is a specialist in Surrealism, which makes her a natural partner for a discussion about myth, the body and the female gaze in Mitsola’s paintings.
The talk starts at 19:00. Booking is required.
