Exhibition Opening - In Transit: Greek Artists Abroad

Description

In Transit is a sculptural dialogue shaped by the lived reality of standing between places and identities. Bringing together Greek artists who have worked abroad, the exhibition reflects our shared in-between state—where memory, displacement, humour, and adaptation collide—revealing how constant movement reshapes who we are and how we belong.

Each work emerges from the friction of distance: between homeland and host country, memory and present time, certainty and reinvention. Sculpture becomes a language for what cannot be easily spoken—the weight of absence, the elasticity of identity, the quiet negotiations required to belong somewhere new without losing where you began.

Rather than illustrating migration, the exhibition embodies it. Materials shift, forms seem unsettled, and meanings remain open, echoing the instability and possibility of diasporic life. Humour appears beside vulnerability, resilience beside doubt. These works do not seek resolution but dwell in transition, where transformation is constant and definitions remain fluid.

In Transit is ultimately an exhibition about becoming—about how movement reshapes not only where we are, but who we are allowed to be.

Featuring artists: Irini Bachlitzanaki, Byron Kalomamas, Amanda Kyritsopoulou, Anna Lytridou, Theodoris Papandreopoulos, Eleni Papazoglou, Eleni Tomadaki, Costas Xanthis and Eleni Zervou.
