North London, and especially Palmers Green, Wood Green, Bounds Green and Winchmore Hill, has the biggest concentration of Greek and Cypriot bakeries in the city. If you only have time for one bakery run, head up Green Lanes.

Greek bakeries get busy around the holidays, so it pays to order early. From late November look for melomakarona and kourabiedes for Christmas, in January the vasilopita with its hidden coin, and in spring tsoureki and koulourakia for Easter. Call your bakery a week or two in advance for larger orders.
