If you are looking for a Greek accountant in the UK before the Self Assessment season gets busy, it helps to know who is out there. Welland Orwell Limited is a firm of chartered accountants and a Greek List member, and its listing is written in both English and Greek, which is not something you see every day in this field.

Who is Welland Orwell Limited?

According to its own website, Welland Orwell Limited describes itself as a firm of Chartered Accountants providing a personalised accountancy service to business owners and individuals, where no client’s affairs are ever too small. The registered office is at Diss Business Hub in Diss, Norfolk, and the firm says it works closely with a broad range of business and personal clients.

On the Greek List listing, the team explains its approach in plain terms: professional guidance, reliable support and practical solutions, with a focus on long term relationships built on trust, transparency and professionalism. They also say they keep up to date with regulatory and legislative changes, which matters in a field where the rules move every year.

That bilingual listing is a small detail with a real use. If you would rather read the first description of a service in Greek before you pick up the phone, you can do that on the listing page.

Services listed on the firm’s website

The services menu on the Welland Orwell website is quite wide. On the business side it covers bookkeeping and accountancy, business start up, company secretarial work, corporate finance, corporate tax and planning, VAT and payroll. There is also a section for construction specialists and a cloud accounting section.

On the personal side the site lists personal accounting, estate planning, personal tax planning, retirement strategies and Self Assessment. That mix is useful for many Greeks and Cypriots in the UK, where the family often has a business, a salary, maybe a property, and a few questions about all three.

Quick facts: Welland Orwell Limited, chartered accountants. Registered office: Diss Business Hub, Hopper Way, Sandy Lane, Diss, Norfolk IP22 4GT. Website: woaccounts.co.uk. Greek List category: Services, Accounting.

Self Assessment dates to put in your diary

This is the time of year when the Self Assessment questions start. According to GOV.UK, the last tax year started on 6 April 2025 and ended on 5 April 2026, and the main dates for that year are these:

A paper tax return has to reach HMRC by 11:59pm on 31 October 2026, which is today. An online tax return has to be submitted by 11:59pm on 31 January 2027, and the tax you owe has to be paid by the same time. If you want to pay your bill through your tax code, GOV.UK says you must submit your online return by 11:59pm on 30 December 2026.

GOV.UK also says that if you need to complete a return for the first time and you registered after 5 October 2026, HMRC will send a letter or email with a different deadline for the return, but you still have to pay what you owe by 31 January 2027. You can start the process on the register for Self Assessment page.

Good to know: dates are taken from GOV.UK on 31 October 2026. Always check GOV.UK for the latest version before you act.

How to choose an accountant

Whether you pick Welland Orwell or somebody else, a few simple questions make the first call easier. Ask which services are included in the quote, who will actually handle your file, how they prefer to receive documents, and what they need from you and by when. If you run a company, ask whether they also handle VAT and payroll so you do not end up with three different providers.

It also helps to gather your paperwork early: your Unique Taxpayer Reference if you have one, income records, bank interest, and anything relating to property or a business. A tidy folder makes any accountant faster, and that is true for a Greek accountant in the UK just as much as for anyone else.

You can browse more professionals on our Greek List business directory, and if you read our earlier guide, Self Assessment for Greeks in the UK, you will see the basics explained step by step.

Please note: this article is general information and not tax, legal or financial advice. Welland Orwell Limited is a Greek List member. We have not tested the firm’s services and make no promise about results, so speak to the firm directly about your own situation.

And a few more tips

Keep receipts and invoices in one place all year, not only in January. Put the 30 December and 31 January dates in your phone calendar today. If you moved to the UK recently, or you have income from Greece or Cyprus as well as from the UK, ask your accountant early how this affects your return, because the answer depends on your own circumstances.
