Κώστας Τσίτσκαρης MD, MSc, FRCS (Tr & Orth) – Έλληνας Ορθοπαιδικός Χειρουργός

Ο Κώστας είναι Ορθοπαιδικός χειρουργός με εξειδίκευση στις παθήσεις γόνατος και ισχίου. Έχει τον τίτλο του Consultant στο Barts Health NHS Trust, το μεγαλύτερο Trust νοσοκομείων στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία.

Ο Κώστας έκανε την κλινική του εκπαίδευση στο πρόγραμμα ειδικότητας του University College Hospital, σε κλινικές με παγκόσμια φήμη, όπως το Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, το Great Ormond Street Hospital και το UCLH. Επίσης ολοκλήρωσε δυο χρόνια μετεκπαίδευσης, τον πρώτο χρόνο με τον Prof Michael Dunbar στον Καναδά και έπειτα στο Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre και το Royal London Hospital, στο Λονδίνο.

Ο Κώστας έχει ενεργή συμμετοχή και εκτενές ερευνητικό έργο με πολλαπλές δημοσιεύσεις και παρουσιάσεις στα πιο σημαντικά διεθνή συνέδρια (American Academy, Orthopaedic Research Society, EFORT, SICOT, British Orthopaedic Association). Επίσης, έχει ολοκληρώσει μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές (Master of Science, MSc) στο University College London.


Mr KOSTAS TSITSKARIS MD, MSc, FRCS (Tr & Orth) | Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon (Hip and Knee)

Kostas is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in conditions of the hip and knee. His NHS practice is at Barts Health NHS Trust. His clinical interests include primary and revision hip and knee surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery (sports injuries, meniscal repair, ACL reconstruction, cartilage preservation) and the management of general and complex trauma.

Kostas completed his specialist orthopaedic training on the highly competitive UCH / Middlesex training programme. He trained in units with worldwide recognition, such as the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College London Hospital. He then undertook two highly regarded specialist fellowships, first under Prof Michael Dunbar in Canada and then at the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre and the Royal London Hospital. He had further fellowship experience from visiting centers of excellence for hip and knee surgery, such as the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.

In addition to his clinical work, Kostas maintains a strong academic interest. In 2014, he completed a Masters (MSc) in Trauma and Orthopaedics at University College London. His research thesis examined corrosion and wear in total hip replacements. His ongoing research work includes, among others, the position as the local principal investigator for two national studies. He has published more than thirty manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters and has given presentations at some of the most prestigious orthopaedic conferences, such as the American Academy, the Orthopaedic Research Society and the British Orthopaedic Association. He is a reviewer for several journals, including the Bone and Joint Journal.

Kostas is passionate about delivering the best possible outcomes for his patients. He believes that effective communication and a thorough understanding of a patient’s individual circumstances, are elementary to successful long-term outcomes. Kostas prides himself on getting to the bottom of his patients’ conditions, engaging them fully in the decision-making process and treating them the way he would like to be treated himself. He will spend as much time as it is necessary in order to deliver an individualized healthcare experience.
